THE DAY WILL COME

July 23rd, 2010 by Zara Chiron received No Comments »

A time will come
When Nigeria will never have to see such poverty and hardship again.

When our children don’t have to work twelve hours a day under the hot sun.
When our education is true and transforming.
When the stench of someone burning beans they were boiling is the average exposure to pollution in our air.
When our people who are not at all afraid of Hard Work will have the opportunities to put their energy to lucrative and just causes.

When Nigerians abroad and all over can truly miss home and be proud of what they see from afar.
When Nigerians at home will not have any reason, need or desire to go abroad in search for “better lives.”

I am tired of seeing
the Poverty, the Ignorance, the Sickness, the Suffering, the Corruption.

Those of us born into economical privilege should sit up.
We should care that so many of our brothers and sisters exist in such negativity.
God did not create us to waste and suffer needlessly.

Let us stop spending our time, energy and money on superficial, selfish and meaningless things and recognize what truly counts in our world.

Forget Beyonce’s weave, Lil wayne’s grill and Paris Hilton’s pooch.
Forget buying extravagant human hair, “popping bottles” of champagne and overpriced “designer” clothing.

Let us focus on Clean Water, Good Roads, Employment Opportunities, Legitimate Education, Constant Electricity and Eradicating Corruption and Neocolonialism once and for all.

The Day Will Come
But we have to take the initiative and work towards it.
Consciously, Actively and Steadily
This is the only way Changes will be made and Nigeria’s collective standard of living will improve.
That is what I would love to see. A more prosperous economy filled with opportunity for growth and enterprise; the honest and straightforward kind that yeilds positivity and citizens of high spirits.

What would you like to see?
Open your eyes NOW.
Search yourself.
Look around.
Do your part and I am telling you-
The day will come.
